Lots of people diss the 80's "hair bands". They obviously didn't experience the 80's. There was Metal, disco, maintsteam crap, and country. I'm proud to have been a Metal Head!! I spent every night at the clubs watching Cinderella, Poison, Dokken, The Cult, Great White, and the likes perform live in a kick-ass oasis of rock amongst the desolation of MTV crap that was prevalent at the time. Boy George? Michael Jackson? Get real! I wanna ROCK! Hell, my hair was down between my shoulder blades then! In the 50's greased down short hair was cool, then in the 60's the Beatles look, then the Ted Nugent wild man look... Trends change, but the spirit of Rock never will.
When I was 13 I had no job nor an allowance. When the almighty Zeppelin came to town in 1973 I couldn't get a ticket but I went anyway. Kezar Stadium in Golden Gate Park S.F. It was a semi overcast day and cool out. I remember being so envious of the lucky people getting in to the concert. The long line of people going inside finally dissipated and I was one of only a handful still outside the stadium. The show began and the sound was more like an echo of what you hear in this video from that show than a concert from outside, but still, it was the Zeppelin and a magical experience nonetheless. A few short years later I was working and was lucky enough to attend their last two concerts performed in the U.S. If only life had a rewind button.....
The video really suxx! ...just close your eyes & listen!

I don’t make everyone happy…..but it’s ok….it’s ok
I’ve been through this before
It’s nothing new…nothing new
I don’t know why every time i wanna fly
Somebody always tries
To hold me down….hold me down…
I’m losing my faith every single time…i try
No one is on my side
Don’t let me drown…let me drown
Don’t worry about whatcha done now cause it’s ok…it’s ok...yeah, yeah
It’s a test to see how much you can take…it’s nothin new…
I don’t know why every time i wanna fly
Somebody always tries
To hold me down….hold me down…
I’m losing my faith every single time…i try
No one is on my side
Don’t let me drown…let me drown
I am drowning…i am sinking….yeah
I am drowning…i am sinking….yeah
Why won’t someone help me
Why won’t someone help me
How come twenty four hours, Baby sometimes seem to slip into days?
Oh twenty-four hours, Baby sometimes seem to slip into days
A minute seems like a lifetime, baby when I feel this way
Sittin, lookin at the clock, time moves so slow
I've been watchin for the hands to move
Until I just can't look no more
How come twenty four hours, Baby sometimes seems to slip into days?
A minute seems like a lifetime, Baby when I feel this way.
To sing a song for you, I recall you used to say
"Oh baby this one's for we two", Which in the end is you anyway
How come twenty four hours, Baby sometimes slip into days?
A minute seems like a lifetime, baby when I feel this way.
There was a time that I stood tall, In the eyes of other men
But by my own choice I left you woman, And now I can't get back again
How come twenty-four hours, sometimes slip into days?
A minute seems like a lifetime, Baby when I feel this way
A minute seems like a lifetime
When I feel this way...I feel this way
This came out in 1974 when I was only 14 years old. I quickly bought up all of their stuff that I could afford. This British band never got that popular in the U.S. but I rocked out to them for sure!
This was released when I was 15 and I ate it up. No one I knew ever heard of them but I had all of their albums. A rare gem and one of my favorite songs of all time.
Sister seagull, oh you're flying me to high
Feels so dizzy underneath your open skies
And it's strange the games we play to hide the crime
Sister seagull you're the reason I survive
I am a prisoner who has thrown away the key
My soul has vanished with the bird who flies so free
And the wings of change have spread themselves o'er me
Sister seagull you're the reason I survive
I am waiting here for the tide to turn
And the pathways of the air to open
Will you meet me there
By the golden stairways to the clouds
To the clouds
I am a changeling
Like the wind across the waves
Though in the end there will be nothing left to save
I will return one day
With all the time you gave
Sister seagull you're the reason I survive
I survive
I survive
Stand up, you don't have to be afraid,
get down - love is like a hurricane
Street boy, no I never could be tamed, better believe it
Guilty 'til I'm proven innocent, whiplash, heavy metal accident
Rock on, I wanna be President, b'cause (I love it)
Chorus:
I love it loud, I wanna hear it loud, right between the eyes
Loud, I wanna hear it loud, I don't want no compromise
Turn it up, hungry for the medicine, two fisted to the very end
No more treated like aliens, we're not gonna take it
No lies, no more alibis, turn it up, it's got me hypnotized
Rock on, I won't be tranquilized, b'cause (I love it)
Headlines jungle is the only rule, front page roar of the nation cool
Turn it up, this is my attitude, take it or leave it, Fuck Yeah!!
